Me, Winter 2003/04.
My name is Fabian Lau, I was born 1979 in Germany. I’m single, straight, usually quite shy and quiet around people, generally optimistic towards life and a bit of a dreamer (who would have thought).
I like and appreciate different languages, there’s something to be said for suddenly understanding things that used to sound like gibberish before. I know English and German, as well as some basic French and Japanese. Problem is, I don’t talk much, so…
On to other things I like, which include everything medieval, fantasy, science fiction, everything Japanese, names that start with the letter ‘A’, cats, balance. But most of all I like seeing people smile, because it makes me smile too :).
Things I’m not very fond of are smoke and alcohol, coffee, obnoxious ads, spam and generally all kinds of dissonance.
If I had to name one single favorite item from all categories that are used on this site it would be:
Favorites
Movie: The Princess Bride
Poem: What if…
Book: Bridge of Birds
Game: Dreamfall
Song: Hijo de la Luna
Artwork: (See image on the right.)
Voice: Bob Ross
Quote: “Mystery is important. To know everything, to know the whole truth, is dull. There is no magic in that. Magic is not knowing, magic is wondering about what and how and where.” ~ Cortez, from The Longest Journey
Favorite color: not one color per se, but a swirling mix of blueish-violet-reddish in all shades. In regard to people and fashion throw brown into the mix, like brown hair, brown eyes, brown leather type clothing (no, nothing naughty).
Internet Personalities

Arhu, from the intro of Divinity.
Arhu: The first nick I’ve used seriously on the Internet, which stuck to this day. Arhu was the name of a young tom-cat in Diane Duane’s Book of Night With Moon, a story about feline wizards I was reading back then. He was kinda cute and amazed a lot if I recall correctly, which I could identify with. So I ventured out, registered in a forum about LMK (R.I.P.) which later merged over to the Larian Forums, and acted as a cat. The Larians were developing Divinity at the time, still a very small studio and very open to input. Suffice to say, the forum members were very supportive, which I think helped them a lot and thus several active members got a cameo appearance in the game, including me. Yay! Arhu was made a feline wizard, old and rusty rather than young, but still, it was very special.

Ariel preparing a play in a theater.
Ariel Moonbow: A paladin in the first (free) MMORPG I played, Tibia. Paladins in that game are actually Rangers, fighting best from a distance and being able to use some magic. I was in a great guild called Force of Light that helped make Secura a better place. Secura was the server I was on. Made some very nice friends there, but eventually I left for World of Warcraft.

Aileya, floating somewhere.
Aileya: A pure holy Nightelf Priestess in WoW on the server “Die Silberne Hand”. I guess everyone knows about this game, so I won’t loose too many words on it. I played it for two years and had tons of fun and met lots of nice people, but I decided to let the game rest with the arrival of the Burning Crusade.
Aileya is my favorite name, I thought up each letter individually one long night a couple years ago. That’s when I found out that I like names that start with the letter ‘A’. ^.~ Too bad it’s a pure female name, because I can’t really use it for male characters.
